Wills
The proportion of UK adults that do not have a Will is currently at an all-time high, with well over half saying that they do not have a Will in place. Without a Will, a person will have no say in who administers their estate and who it goes to. Dying without a valid Will in place is called dying ‘intestate’.
What is it?
A will is an essential personal document to ensure your assets pass onto whom you wish. You may appoint legal guardians for children and protect the inheritance for your family and loved ones.
A will may be simple or as complicated as desired. It may contain a single gift of all property to one person, or many gifts to different people.
A good reason for making a will is that it helps those who are left behind to cope. They know what was intended and how to deal with the deceased persons possessions.
Those who make no will have little or no control over what happens to their property after death. A will has no effect until death of the person who made it.
